Would you like to know all there is to know about mouthguards? If so, you have come to the right blog. Today, our dentists, Dr. Rick G. Friedrichs and Dr. Mabel Abraham, are happy to share some facts about mouthguards so you can know more about the appliance. The more you know, the better. The facts they would like to share include:
-A mouthguard can help you prevent oral injuries, like knocked-out, broken and fractured teeth as well as damaged gums, when you suffer a blow to the face. This is possible because it can absorb the force when an elbow, ball, knee or other hard object hits your mouth.
-Fortunately, there are many different types of mouthguards available. The first mouthguard is a stock mouthguard, which is premade and ready to wear. The second mouthguard is a boil-and-bite mouthguard, which needs to be formed at home. The third mouthguard is a customized mouthguard that is made by your dentist.
-A mouthguard should be worn when you are playing basketball, wrestling, playing soccer, playing rugby, playing football, doing karate, snowboarding/skiing, boxing and more.
